We always aim to use the best quality materials for our arks. They look better, last longer and are more weather proof. Wood with cracks or defects is always rejected.
All external panels are made from treated 3/4 inch shiplap boards. These are much heavier and robust than the standard tongue and groove boards used on most other garden sheds, kennels etc.
Internal panels, floors etc. are made from weather proof boards.
All framing is made from appropriately sized fully treated timber, planed or sanded as required.
Wire mesh is 13mm x 24mm rectangular section, fully galvanised. We do not use "chicken wire".
All metal fittings are solid brass or plated to resist rusting.

We strongly recommend that all arks are given a coat of preservative every year to maintain their appearance and weather proof qualities. It's your choice what type and colour to use but please be sure it is not toxic to your pets. Painting the interior will also help to deter mites, lice etc.
